The very beginning.
We are a family-owned business based in Ohio where our families founded the company in 1982. Although our beginning can be traced back to 1860 when in Europe our family created a down and feather collection system for their fellow farmers across the region. It became a flourishing business right up until World War II. Needless to say, we lost everything, as all the people we were doing business with did. In search of a second chance, my grandfather and my great-uncle took their families on a boat to pursue the Great American Dream. They worked hard at humble jobs while learning English. In 1952, Harry Werthaiser and his brothers began again, processing and selling feather and down for use in bedding as well as outdoor products.

Joe Crawford
CEO
After spending seven years in the aerospace industry Joe joined Pacific Coast Feather Company and began an illustrious career in home textiles. In 2012, Joe became the President and CEO of Pacific Coast Feather Company. In 2019, Joe joined Dowlite as CEO, where he holds the position today. In Joe’s free time, he loves golf, fishing, and reading. Joe is married and has a 33-year-old son.
Josh Werthaiser
PRESIDENT FEATHERS & DOWN
Josh joined Downlite in September 2001. Since then, he has covered many roles within the organization, ranging from sales to finance. In 2007, Josh became CFO for Downlite, a position he maintains today, as well as overseeing feather & down operations. When Josh is not working at Downlite, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons, along with going for the long run.
Linda Howard
SVP OF SALES
Linda has spent over 30 years in the Home Textile and Down Fill industry and 25 years as Vice President of Sales at Pacific Coast Feather. Since 2017 she is responsible for Downlite's entire sales organization. In Linda’s downtime, she is an avid outdoor and fitness enthusiast including hiking, kayaking, biking and yoga.
Beth Mack
CMMO
Beth has spent her entire career in home textiles, with a focus on utility bedding. In 2000 she was promoted to President of Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising of Springs Global and Hollander Sleep Products. She joined Downlite as CMMO in January 2022. Beth enjoys spending time at the beach with her husband and 2 daughters.
Brian Parnes
COO
Brian joined Downlite in 2008 after working for The University of Cincinnati, Procter & Gamble, and Electronic Arts. He began in Marketing but soon transitioned to learn nearly every facet of the business, including Sourcing, Manufacturing, eCommerce, Product Development, Brand Licensing, and more. In 2021 Brian took on the role of COO to help streamline operations.
Bob Altbaier
OWNER
Bob is one of our founding members. Over 40 years ago he joined a partnership with the Wertheimer brothers and began an illustrious career with Downlite. Bob has and continues to lead our sales team. He has three children and six grandchildren and shares with his wife, Cathy, a passion for travel and a love of adventure.
Larry Werthaiser
OWNER
Marvin and his brother Larry started Downlite in 1982 and have been the marketing and merchandising team leader for over 20 years. He credits much of our success to Downlite's integrity and strong standing relationships with our customers. Marvin’s children Hailey Werthaiser Parnes and son-in-law Brian Parnes both serve key roles and share those core values.
Marvin Werthaiser
OWNER
Larry Werthaiser started his career as an aeronautical engineer, working at GE Aviation. Larry, along with Marvin Werthaiser and Bob Altbaier, started Downlite as a division of the preceding family business in 1979. In 1982, Larry helped oversee the setup of Downlite as a standalone organization. Larry has retired in 2019 to spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Sandy Coleman
HUMAN RESOURCE DIRECTOR
Sandy Coleman has 30+ years of experience in Human Resources Recruiting, joining our team in 2001. As Head of Human Resources for our 5 locations including Canada, her focus is making Downlite a great place to work. Sandy enjoys riding her Harley Davidson, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family, including her 1st granddaughter and 11 nieces and nephews.
